Notes About SparkWeb
Sparkweb appears to have some major drawbacks to its regular use. Some users are unable to see others (for unknown reasons). You can't highlight text for copy/paste, and you can't directly click links. Even with that, though, this is a useful app for some people, so it is being made available if you have need of it.
Getting Connected
When you click the SparkWeb link, you will be shown a screen that asks for your username, a server, and a password. The server is already configured, so you only need to enter your CS screen name nad password before clicking "Login"
Joining a Group Chat
In the lower left of your browser window are two tabs: "Contacts" and "Conferences". Click the "Conferences" tab. Double-click the "Customers Suck! Lounge" conference (or another conference on your list) to join it.
To make your own group chat room, open the "Conferences" tab. Above the conference listing is a horizontal bar with a plus sign (+) at the end of it (see below). Click that plus sign. Enter a room name, and click "Submit".
In order to use a link pasted into a chat, you must right-click the link, and then click either "Open" or "Open in new window"
Moderating Your Chat Room
If a need arises to kick someone out of your chat channel, you can right click that user's name in the group chat, and click "Kick User" and that user will be kicked off the channel.
If it goes further, and you must ban someone from joining your channel again, you can right that user's name in the group chat, and click "Ban User", and that user will be unable to join the chat again.
If you discover you need to unban someone, then you will have to use a different option, such as Pidgin.
Adding Contacts
To add contacts and friends, visit your CS Buddy List, and add them there. From there, the data will be copied from CS to CS Chat. This process normally takes 30 to 45 minutes. Once done, you will see the person appear in your contact list the next time you log on.
Note, though, that a person on your roster for CS Chat will never be removed by this process. Delete them from your CS Buddy List, and then delete them in your roster window, if you wish to do this.
